DrumAce Blog - The Montreal Drum Festival
For my 30th birthday this year I've decided to take a trip to Montreal in Canada. I have a friend who lives out there and they are happy to put me up for a week as I explore this great city and it's culture. I actually can't wait despite how much it's going to cost!
What makes this trip even more exciting is that the Montreal Drum Festival also happens to be on at the same time I'm over there. This is too good an opportunity to miss!
I've been to several drum clinics in my time here in the UK. I've seen some great drum clinics but the Montreal Drum Festival is renowned around the world as the best. I will be getting to see some amazing drummers perform and discuss technique. Attending these clinics you can't help but leave feeling totally inspired and filled with new ideas for your practice and performing.
Something that I think can really help a beginner drummer is getting along to these drum clinics even if you don't know who the drummers are performing. They happen all over the country and always have some great drummers talking and showcasing. You get to hear what actual drummers think about their instrument and how they go about playing the drums.
If you get a chance to see a drum clinic or go to a drum festival then make sure you get yourself along. You won't regret it and your drumming will benefit!
