Drum Teaching Facilities & Set Up
I have two drum kits set up in my home studio for teaching drums on. Both are Yamaha electric drum kits and both are excellent pieces of technology...in my humble opinion. I was using Yamaha electric drums before I even started teaching, back in the day when an electric drum kit was a big expensive piece of chunky rubber!
For left handed pupils I have a Yamaha DTXPress III electric drum kit set up with double bass drum pedals as standard. This is the same kit that I practice on myself as it best suits my own set up and way of playing. I also really like the feel of the pads.
For all right handed players I teach on a Yamaha DTXPress IV Special also with a double bass drum pedal, realistic Hi-Hat, multi zone Snare drum, two crash cymbals and a three zone and chokeable ride cymbal. You don't need to understand what all that means to understand that this makes it one very realistic drum kit! I have plans of replacing my left handed kit with the same model but there is no rush as the DTXPress III is still a great piece of kit for learning on.
The following video will take you on a tour around my home studio to give you an idea of the set up I use at home. It will also give you a good idea of what to expect when you come for drum lessons with me.
