The topics and syllabus covered within drum lessons are completely tailored to the pupil's own abilities and desires. This allows pupils to pick and choose their own subjects of interest (if desired).
Total beginners however can relax and rely on me to help them with their learning in an easy and fun manner. I'll take you step by step through everything you need to know and have you playing your very first drum beats by the end of our first lesson together. Remember that you are never too young or old to start playing the drums!
Intermediate and advanced players can either trust me to guide them towards improvement or they can suggest their own topics of interest.
All drum lesson materials are supplied free of charge allowing pupils to practice at home and at their own pace.
Drum Lesson Structure
Each drum lesson is tailored COMPLETELY to the pupils own desires and abilities so the following topics may vary accordingly.
- The previous weeks lesson will be discussed and any problems solved. If the pupil feels sufficient improvement has been made then new practice material will be supplied.
- Playing along to a piece of music chosen by the pupil. If no music is selected then a suitable piece of music will be chosen by myself.
- Various specialised subjects. This could be topics on playing drum rudiments, increasing speed around the drums or tuning drums for example.
- Any questions can be asked and a quick review is given of any new material supplied that week.
I am happy to teach drum grades and pupils are free to suggest their own books to work from. I have an extensive syllabus so don't worry if you don't have any suggestion or know where to start!
